Our current and primary focus is establishing Tūmanako Christian College. This is an expensive initial outlay, but we aim to have as little debt as possible when we open.
Setting up a school is an expensive process. Most estimates put the building of a school at the $20-30 million dollars. We are looking at starting smaller and building as we go. Our aim is to make it as affordable as possible, not be burdened by debt and sustainable. Funds donated are for the general purposes of the Trust, and over the next year we propose to use them for the following purposes:
| Items: | Costs: |
| Property | $3,800,000 |
| Building/Capital Resources | $600,000 |
| Staffing/Consultants | $100,000 |
| Resources (furnishings, equipment, books etc) | $500,000 |
| Total | $5,000,000 |
How you can help us.
We have raised the $380,000 necessary to secure the property. We are still negotiating settlement and securing lending for the remainder of the money needed. If you believe you can help with this, please contact us. This is such an amazing opportunity- thank you for your continued support.
The Wellington Christian Education Trust is responsible for the property, maintaining it at Ministry standards. The less debt the WCET has on the school property, the lower the fees need to be. We would love to open without the burden of debt being passed on to our future students. Any donation you make towards the property helps reduce this burden.
If you would like to help us, you can make a one-off donation or set up an automatic payment for a smaller, regular amount that you can afford. Please make sure that your name is in the reference area and that we have your details to send tax certificates for tax refunds. Please don’t hesitate to email us at wcetnz@gmail.com if you have any questions, or want to confirm we have your details. Kiwibank Account: Wellington Christian Education Trust 38-9015-0579650-00
State integration enables a school to have a special character yet adhere to national standards and have professional accountability. It makes it affordable as the Ministry of Education pays for the delivery of the curriculum, notably the staffing, the teachers.
