Wonderful news!
Thanks to all those who were able to join us at our meetings over the year so far. We have some amazing answers to prayer and great updates.
Firstly, the Minister of Education has approved:
the relocation of the former Miramar Christian School to Johnsonville in 2025,
extending classes up to year 13 by adding one year level each year,
expanding the maximum role to 210 students
approving the new name for our school for next year– Wellington Hills Christian College.
This means that the final purchase, refurbishment and EQ strengthening of the site can begin so the relocation can go ahead in 2025.
It is also exciting to share that Tim Kuipers has been appointed as the new Principal from 2025. He will lead the process of establishing the school in Johnsonville, adding the year levels and developing a vibrant God honouring culture at WHCC. Tim has been Principal of Ashburton Christian School for about 15 years, having led the growth of that school from a very tiny rural school to over 260 students, and expanding the year levels to a full year 1 to 13 school. He will be working closely with Kaye Gillies over the rest of the year, and we are really appreciative of all her work through this process. Ashburton Christian School have been tremendously supportive through this, and we are incredibly grateful to them for their care and generosity.
With a great site in central Johnsonville- close to lots of amenities and public transport- 2025 is looking to be an exciting year where we can finally launch the school- not quite a full school yet, but growing!
If you check the Support Page or the News update, you can see just how close we are- we still need a little bit more to get us there. Maybe you want to give a gift and be in time for tax rebate this year, or maybe you want to consider donating to the WCET with your upcoming tax rebate Please consider us in your prayers as we really value your prayer and support. Remember, this doesn’t just help us now, it will help future generations too.
Ngā mihi maioha.
